By David Prior at

A cyclist has been taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg and shoulder after a collision involving a car on Manchester Road this morning.

The North West Ambulance Service attended the incident – which involved a blue Vauxhall Corsa – at the junction with Hartington Road just before 10am.

A 49-year-old man was said by police to have been in “a confused state” when they arrived.

He is thought to have suffered fractures to his shoulder and leg, and is being treated at Wythenshawe Hospital.

Manchester Road was closed in both directions for around half an hour as a result of the incident, reopening at 11.05.
