Hale shoe shop Shoetique has been named independent footwear retailer of the year at a major awards ceremony.

Hale shoe shop Shoetique has been named independent footwear retailer of the year at a major awards ceremony.

The family-owned business, which has a head office in Altrincham, beat off seven other retailers to claim the prize at the Drapers Footwear Awards, held in London.

Shoetique, owned by husband and wife team Stuart and Kate Conroy since 2009, has been a fixture in Hale village since 1992, when Stuart’s parents opened the store.

The pair also run top-selling sister shoe businesses on Amazon and eBay, and Shoetique is rated the top footwear retailer on review site Trustpilot.

Stuart said: “We were initially proud to be nominated for such a coveted award but to actually win the award is fantastic.

“We’ve got a great team in place at Shoetique and it’s satisfying to see some of the hard work pay off and for us to be recognised by the Drapers judging panel.

“The business started from humble beginnings on Altrincham market back in the 1980s. To win a national award like this just goes to show what can be achieved from a local business.”
