Respected GP who served Timperley community for four decades dies aged 87

A respected family GP who was a prominent figure in the Timperley community for over 40 years has died at the age of 87.

A respected family GP who was a prominent figure in the Timperley community for over 40 years has died at the age of 87.

Dr John Scotson, MB ChB, MRCS, worked as a family doctor between 1956 and 2001.

He died at St Ann’s Hospice on December 1st.

Dr Scotson worked as House Surgeon, House Physician and a General Practitioner at the Park Road Practice in Timperley for 35 years.

He also served as chairman on the Charles O’Neill Medical Club and Probus.

Outside of the practice, his interests were reading, fell walking, photography, presentations on the Shroud, and ethics in relation to medicine.

He was the beloved husband of Sheila, who herself died only recently, and will be greatly missed by his four children Anne, Peter, Jane and Richard, 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, family and friends.

The funeral service will be held at St Vincent’s Catholic Church in Altrincham on Friday December 9 at 12.15pm.

The family have asked that any donations are split between St Vincent’s Church, Altrincham and Aid To The Church In Need, and are sent to Albert Slack Funeral Directors, 84 S Oak Ln, Wilmslow SK9 6AT or call 01625 525063.
