Andy Burnham has been elected the first Mayor of Greater Manchester.
The former Leigh MP and Labour minister won every borough, picking up 63.4% of the vote, with Trafford Council leader Sean Anstee second with a 23% share.

In his victory speech, Burnham pledged to help the homeless of Manchester.
He said: “It saddens everyone here that the streets of Greater Manchester are providing the canvas for this unequal picture.
“Westminster has created a crisis in politics. We can hold as many general elections as we like but that will never solve the problem. Greater Manchester is going to take control.”
It meant a doubly good day for Labour in the borough after Amy Whyte was named Broadheath’s new councillor earlier today.
Whyte, who lives in Broadheath with her husband and three children, won 2,086 votes, ahead of Dave Morgan (Conservative) with 1,778 and Simon Latham (Lib Dem) on 271.
The by-election was called after Labour councillor Louise Dagnall stepped down in March due to ill health.

Whyte said: “I am overwhelmed by the support from the people of Broadheath. I am really surprised at the level of support and delighted with the results.
“I want to carry on fighting for services in Broadheath and I want to continue to hold the Tories to account for the cuts they are making.”
