Police are hunting a bogus workman after a 94-year-old was robbed at home in Hale.

The elderly victim was at home on Brown Street when he answered the door to a man who told him he had an unsafe chimney and that he could fix it.

The victim handed over £220 before the offender made off with the cash and never returned.

Police described the offender as a white male in his 50s, 5ft 7, of average build with grey hair and a slight Scottish accent.

A spokesperson for GMP Trafford South said: “Please warn your family members and friends, particularly elderly and vulnerable people.”
