Timperley FC scores double FA award for “commitment to grassroots football”

Timperley FC has picked up a prestigious regional prize in the FA Community Awards 2017.

Timperley FC has picked up a prestigious regional prize in the FA Community Awards 2017.

The Stockport Road club had already been awarded the FA McDonald’s county community award for Charter Standard Club of the Year.

And now the club has been informed it has been further recognised for its “commitment to grassroots football” and named the North-West Regional Charter Standard Club of the Year for 2017.

Steve Stewart, CEO of the Cheshire FA, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and I would like to offer you congratulations on behalf of the Cheshire FA.”

Timperley will now go on to represent the region at the national awards.

As a regional winner, the club also won a framed certificate, two general admission tickets to the FA Community Shield Final at Wembley, an official plaque and a £200 coach education bursary.

Mike Ripley, a coach and committee member at Timperley FC, said: “At a time when the club is preparing to celebrate 25 years of existence, and with now over 250 children playing across all age groups from Reception up to U12s, the club has enjoyed an immensely successful year, and the awards are a superb recognition of the hard work that goes in to running the club, from the Chairman the committee and the coaches – all of whom are volunteers – to the parents and supporters and all the children who train and play in matches.”
