The Met Office has upgraded its warning for heavy snow in Altrincham and the Greater Manchester area this Sunday.
Forecasters have now issued an amber warning, meaning there is an “increased likelihood” bad weather could affect the region.
Around 10cm of snow now “looks likely quite widely” within area, with up to 20cm in some places.
The warning applies between 4am and 6pm on Sunday.
A statement from the Met Office said: “A band of rain, heavy at times, is expected to move eastwards over the UK. With cold air in place, a spell of heavy snow looks likely to develop on its northern edge.
“10 cm looks likely quite widely within the warning area, with 15-20 cm in places. There is increasing certainty in the track and location of the heaviest snow.”
