A pottery studio and shop selling handmade homeware is to open in Altrincham town centre.

Established potter Oliver Stanion is opening MOSS Studio – Store, a part teaching, part retail space in one of the Moss Lane units that form port of Stamford House.

The teaching side will offer regular ceramic and craft workshops for people of all abilities, while the shop will stock ceramics, homeware, plants, jewellery and more.

Oliver said: “Moss studio will give people the opportunity to experience working with clay and creating one-off handmade objects from mugs to dinner sets, in a relaxed friendly environment.

“It’s a great creative activity for all ages and abilities. Having the retail side gives me the opportunity to showcase some great handmade arts and craft from around the UK. A perfect place for you to get creative and find some unique products.”

MOSS Studio – Store is currently being fitted out and will be launching in late April.

It has taken a five-year lease on the 800 sq ft ground and basement accommodation.

Daniel Lee, director, Regional Property Solutions, who let the outlet on behalf of the landlord Petros, said: “This to our knowledge is a first for the town centre and we wish it every success. Moss Lane is certainly a great footfall location for the transport interchange, Tesco and the ever evolving Stamford New Road.”
