Trafford Council is to ask local residents about its plans for a new £22m leisure centre in Altrincham.

Plans for the new state-of-the-art centre – roughly on the site of the current facility – were approved in October.

Facilities will include a 25-metre pool and 25m leisure pool with a moveable floor, a 100-station fitness suite, a six-court sports hall and squash courts.

People will now be asked their views on the development at two consultation drop-in events, when residents and businesses will be asked for views on the scheme.

The events will take place between 2pm and 5pm on June 27th at Altrincham Library and on July 3rd (between 3.30pm and 6.30pm) at Altrincham Leisure Centre.

Cllr Jane Baugh, Trafford Council Executive Member for Leisure and Culture, said: “The Council is keen to ensure that the views of the local community are heard and that any proposals taken forward for the Altrincham Leisure Centre site will have benefited from the input and engagement of local residents and businesses.

“This will help us to achieve the best possible solution and maximise the potential of the site for the local area.”

There’s also an online questionnaire available here.
