Altrincham-based animation studio is to produce a brand new TV series of classic children’s story Elmer the Patchwork Elephant.

Based on the bestselling picture books by David McKee, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant will follow the adventures of the colourful, fun-loving elephant who is finding his place in the herd.

Factory has partnered wth Andersen Press to produce a series that will be “visually stunning” with a “funny, light narrative that is deceptively poignant to today’s diverse pre-school audience, celebrating what makes people different and encouraging little ones to be kind to one another”.

Managing director Phil Chalk said: “Elmer is one of the most iconic and widely read children’s book series of all time and we are so excited to be teaming up with Andersen Press and David McKee in bringing Elmer to life for a brand new generation of children.”

The Elmer books have sold over 10 million copies worldwide and have been translated into more than 50 languages.

Factory, which occupies 35,000 sq ft of bespoke studio and office space on the Altrincham Business Park, has over 100 staff.

It has also behind the revival of Clangers, as well as Scream Street, Off The Leash, Strange Hill High, Newzoids, and three specials for Disney and Club Penguin.
