Retailer Magnet Kitchens closes Altrincham store

Retailer Magnet Kitchens has closed its Altrincham store.

Retailer Magnet Kitchens has closed its Altrincham store.

The company had moved into the corner unit on Stamford New Road back in 2014, becoming one of the first to take up space in the refurbished Stamford House.

It had reportedly agreed a 10-year lease on the 1,600 sq ft space and spent about £250,000 fitting it out.

But it has now confirmed to Altrincham Today that it has closed the store, apparently as the lease had ended.

A spokesperson from Magnet said: “The Altrincham store has closed as we came to the end of our lease and our team members have relocated to other stores in the region. We do have a store in Sale which is hopefully just as convenient for all Magnet customers in the area, including trade.”

A Northern company which has its roots in West Yorkshire but is now headquartered in Darlington, Magnet has over 200 locations and 2,000 employees across the UK.

For its last registered accounts, for the year to December 2017, Nobia Holdings UK Ltd – which trades as Magnet – grew post-tax profit from £21.7m to £34.7m on sales of £412.4m.

Its closure means there are now two prime units available at the Stamford New Road/Moss Lane junction following Dawson’s demise in March.
