Man arrested on suspicion of murder after woman found dead in Altrincham home

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 59-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Altrincham.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 59-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Altrincham.

Police were called shortly before 8pm on Monday evening, December 9th, to reports a woman had been found dead at an address on Whiteley Place.

Officers subsequently arrested a 71-year-old man, who remains in custody on suspicion of murder.

Police remained outside the property on Tuesday

A police cordon remains in place as initial enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Kelly, of GMP’s Trafford division, said: “I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased woman and our thoughts are with them at this very sad and difficult time.

“Our team are in the very early stages of their investigation and it is important that we keep an open mind and explore all lines of enquiry at this point.

“If anyone was around the area of Whiteley Place at around 7.30pm to 8pm and has any information that they believe could be relevant to this investigation then we urge them to get in touch with us without hesitation.”
