Hilal, in Timperley village, has been serving Indian food at its Stockport Road site since 1969.

It’s been run by the Ahmed family for all those years, but a sign posted in the window has confirmed it will be closing this weekend.

It reads: “After 50 wonderful years, it is with deepest regret that The Hilal Restaurant will shortly be closing its doors for the final time.

“We would like to thank all our loyal and valued customers over the years. We have loved being part of your lives.”

A member of staff told Altrincham Today that the restaurant has been bought out by another restaurateur, who will be reopening it as another Indian restaurant under a new name.

It’s not known whether Hilal staff will be transferring to the new restaurant.
