The Office of National Statistics has revealed today that of the 95 people who died in Trafford that week of all causes, 35 were linked to Covid-19.

Of those, eight deaths took place in care homes, three at home and 23 in hospital, with one death recorded elsewhere.

The number compares to the total of 38 coronavirus deaths the previous week, to April 17th.

Across the country, the data shows that the UK now has the highest death toll in Europe from coronavirus, with the total now standing at 32,313, eclipsing Europe’s previous worst-hit country, Italy.
