Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a “nasty assault” in Altrincham town centre.

Officers were called to reports of a disturbance on Railway Street – close to Papa Cinos takeaway and the Cheshire Tap bar – at around 2.50am on Saturday 15th February.

A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with face and arm injuries and has since been discharged.

No arrests have been made and police have now released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to.

PC Geeta Singh, of GMP’s Trafford district, said: “This incident happened a couple of months ago but our investigation is very much ongoing.

“It was a nasty assault and the victim was lucky that he wasn’t more seriously injured.

“I appeal to anyone with information about the assault or who recognises the man in the CCTV image to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
