The number of people with deaths linked to coronavirus dipped sharply in Trafford in the week ending May 8th, new figures have shown.
The Office of National Statistics has revealed today that of the 54 people who died in Trafford that week of all causes, 21 were linked to Covid-19, with 11 of those recorded in a hospital and 10 in a care home.
That number was well down on the 35 whose deaths were linked to coronavirus for the week ending May 1st, as well as the week ending April 24th, when 38 deaths in Trafford were linked to Covid-19.
Across the country, there were 12,600 deaths during the week ending May 8th, with nearly a third linked to coronavirus.
That’s down from a weekly peak of 22,000 at the height of the pandemic.
