Green bin collection is returning to a weekly service once again

Green bin collection is returning to a weekly service from next week.

Green bin collection is returning to a weekly service from next week.

The Covid-19 outbreak led to considerable disruption of local bin services, with Trafford Council battling to keep the collection going during the first few weeks of lockdown.

But from next Monday, July 13th, it says that green bins – containing any food and garden waste – will once again be collected on a weekly basis.

Initially, households will be limited to presenting two bins a week on their scheduled bin collection day, but from Monday July 27th, households will be able to present all of their green bins for collection each week.

Cllr Stephen Adshead, Executive Member for Environment, Air Quality and Climate Change, said: “Emptying the bins during the coronavirus pandemic is one of our highest priorities, and our waste crews have gone out every day, in what is a difficult situation.”

“While the staffing situation could change quickly, we are currently able to return to a weekly collection service for green bins. Everyone should recycle all of their food and garden waste in the green bin. We will try and empty as many green bins as possible, but we ask that you continue to bear with us during this difficult time.”
