First look: Dose coffee shop and self-care studio, Kingsway, Altrincham

The new opening combines a coffee shop with a studio offering treatments for brows, lashes and nails.

Here's a first look at Dose, a neighbourhood coffee shop and self-care studio in one, that has opened in Altrincham town centre.

The new opening, on Kingsway, combines a coffee shop with a studio offering treatments for brows, lashes and nails.

It's all the brainchild of husband and wife team Sim and Faye Bala, who both have a background in the TV and film industry and met while filming Sky series Mount Pleasant in Altrincham.

Since 2021, Faye - who worked behind the cameras in hair and make-up - has been establishing the Dose brand out of a small salon on Bloomfield Lane in Hale.

They launched a crowdfunder to enable them to realise their dream of a coffee shop and self-care studio idea, and customers donated £8,000 in return for various rewards including items of furniture and treatments.

"I thought we'd raise about £500 but unbelievably our clients donated £8,000 across two crowdfunders, and we've even got two investors on board now as well," said Faye.

"We always thought it would be really cool if we could amalgamate a coffee shop with a self-care studio, and I can't believe we've actually managed to do it.

"When we saw this empty unit we couldn't say no, it was absolutely perfect.

"It's been a lot of blood, sweat and tears and it's a relief to get to this point. We're really excited and can't believe it's finally happening!"
