Opening date revealed for new Starbucks - with two "established" restaurants set to join it at Foundation

The global coffee brand is the first confirmed food and beverage tenant in the £13.7million development.

Starbucks is to open its new coffee shop in the Stamford Quarter’s Foundation building next month.

The global coffee brand is the first confirmed food and beverage tenant in the £13.7million development, which has just been completed on the site of the former Rackhams department store.

And we can exclusively reveal it will open on Monday April 22nd.

The new Altrincham Starbucks is set to create 11 jobs and will be located in a 1,708 sq ft unit on the ground floor of the building.

Starbucks does already have a presence in Altrincham but only as a popular concession shop inside Sainsbury's.

James Tootle, Head of Retail and Leisure at Bruntwood, said he did not think that Starbucks would pose a threat to Altrincham's strong independent coffee offer in the town centre.

Foundation, on the former Rackhams site, has now been virtually completed internally

He told us: "It's providing people with choice - for every one who likes an independent coffee shop, there is someone who likes a Starbucks.

"Bringing that guaranteed footfall that comes with Starbucks will help us to develop Foundation as a new anchor for this part of the town centre."

He also revealed that two further vacant units were under offer to "established" independent restaurants.

The vacant units were sized 2,000 sq ft and 3,500 sq ft, the latter with a balcony overlooking Stamford New Road and Altrincham Interchange.

More details will be revealed soon - but Bruntwood say that locals will be "very pleased".
