Business & Communications Manager

Altrincham Unlimited is the Business Improvement District (BID) in Altrincham. Operational since April 2016, Altrincham Unlimited is funded by businesses and aims to drive improvement in Altrincham town centre via a programme of activity to increase footfall, dwell time and spend as well as specific projects to enhance business performance. Projects to date include Christmas lights & events, the Goose Green Summer Festival, Easter and Halloween family activities, marketing campaigns around specific sectors, the LoyALTY card, improving the cleanliness and appearance of the town centre and a joint procurement initiative to save businesses money.

Altrincham Unlimited has a staff team of 3; a BID Manager, a Business & Communications Manager and a Marketing & Projects Assistant. The successful candidate will be based in Altrincham town centre and report to the BID Manager.

Purpose of the role:

The Business & Communications Manager is responsible for day to day business management and communications activity to support Altrincham BID in engaging with the Altrincham business community and other key stakeholders.


Establish an annual communications plan aligned with the BID Business Plan

Ensure BID initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to the BID Community i.e. levy payers, company members and other key organisations and stakeholders and at appropriate frequency

Plan, edit and write content for a variety of communication platforms, including the website, a regular newsletter and e-comms

Manage the day to day social media activities of Altrincham BID

Prepare and keep updated the Social Media Policy for BID

Oversee management of the Altrincham Unlimited website

Draft press releases, speeches, scripts

Ensure communication messages are consistent across all mediums

Manage communications response to crisis situations which affect the perception and reputation of the BID

Conduct face to face meetings with businesses and stakeholders

Maintain strong relations with local and regional press and media owners

Manage relationships with design agencies and freelancers to deliver marketing creative for campaigns within the Marketing Plan

Provide copy for marketing campaigns

Business Management

Support the BID Manager with all aspects of BID project delivery

Set, communicate and maintain timelines and priorities on each project

Manage supplier relationships and third party operational or administrative functions to ensure specific projects are delivered efficiently

Assume responsibility for project budgets from start to finish

Ensure excellent service and quality delivery

Set KPIs for each event project and measure back once completed through the submission of a report to the BID Manager and Board where appropriate

Administration of BID levy collection
