Figures reveal the youngest people in Altrincham live in Broadheath, with the oldest in Bowdon

The median age of somebody living in the Broadheath ward is 38, just below the average in the Altrincham town centre ward of 38.4.

Residents in the Bowdon ward are the oldest in the Altrincham area, with a median age of 47.3.

The median age in all the Altrincham wards were as follows:

  • Broadheath – 38
  • Altrincham – 38.4
  • Priory – 38.7
  • Hale Central – 41.1
  • Village – 42.2
  • Timperley – 43.6
  • Hale Barns – 46.1
  • Bowdon – 47.3

The figures, compiled by the Reach data team, found that out of 215 wards in Greater Manchester, 18 had a median age in the 20s, 91 in the 30s, 104 in the 40s and just two in the 50s.

Fallowfield in Manchester had the youngest median age in Greater Manchester, at 23.5 years, while the oldest people in Greater Manchester live in Marple South in Stockport, where the median age is 51.2.
