St Ambrose College four-piece wins Battle of the Bands competition

St Ambrose College four-piece Red Melody has won Trafford Music Service’s Battle of the Bands competition.

St Ambrose College four-piece Red Melody has won Trafford Music Service’s Battle of the Bands competition.

The Year 11 students, who came second last year, stunned judges with their three original songs at the annual competition.

Guitarist and lead singer Matyas Price Jones said: “Not winning last year became more of an incentive for us to win this year.  We listened to last year’s feedback and we really worked hard rehearsing for hours to make sure that we impressed.”

Joe Seal, Battle of the Bands judge and Trafford Music Service tutor, added: “This year, all six participating bands set an incredibly high standard, and it was a very difficult job to find a winner.

“Red Melody performed an electrifying and energetic set, it was amazing to see how they’ve improved over the year.”

Red Melody will go on to represent Trafford at the Greater Manchester Rock Showcase at Band on the Wall in Manchester next month.
